1.Early Days
Srikanth Nammalwar Kidambi, hails from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. He was born on 7 February 1993 to KVS Krishna, who is a farmer and his wife Radha, who is a homemaker.
2.Inspiration
In 2001, Srikanth and his elder brother Nanda Gopal met Pullela Gopichand in a feliciation ceremony, after his triumph in All England Championship. Subbaravamma the mother of Kidambi brothers fuelled the words of inspiration by saying that, “You have to become like Gopi one day.”
3.Turning Point
In 2008, Srikanth shifted his base to Pullela Gopichand acedemy in Hyderabad from Vishakhapatnam. Srikanth was not making a mark at that point of time, and his father pleaded Gopichand to take a look at his young son and train him.
Srikanth started training as a doubles player but switched to singles on the advice of Pullela Gopichand, who spotted his singles skills at the 2011 India Junior International Badminton Championship.
