6.Initial success
After starting to train in singles from 2012, Srikanth didn’t take much time to mark his arrival on world stage immediately afterwards. At the 2012 Maldives International Challenge, he defeated the 2011 Junior World Champion Zulfadli Zulkiffli in the final.
Srikanth didn’t stop from here as he won the SCG Thailand Open Grand Prix in 2013 followed by a gold at senior national championship by defeating Parupalli Kashyap, who was India’s top men singles player of that time.
7.Biggest breakthrough in limelight
Srikanth emerged as a giant killer in 2014 China Open. The 21-year-old Srikanth, who grew up idolising the 2 times Olympic champion Lin Dan, won the men’s singles final 21-19, 21-17 for his first Super Series title. Thus becoming the first Indian to win a Super Series Premier Men’s title.
8.Life Threatening fever
In 2014, Kidambi Srikanth suffered a life threatening brain fever. One of his family member said “We were worried about his survival. He went through the most dangerous phase of his life. 9.Awards
Srikanth was feliciated with Arjuna Award in 2015. He is also the recipient of Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India.

Srikanth became the fourth player in badminton history to win four Super Series titles in a year. He equaled the record held by Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, and Chen Long. Following the victory, he reached his career-best ranking of 2. He won Indonesia Open, Australian Open, Denmark Open and French Open in 2017.
