Star Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar withdraws from the artistic team finals of the ongoing Asian Games after her injury flashed again. Dipa, 25, caught up with the injury when she attempted “Produnova” death vault at Rio Olympics 2016 which gave her historic fourth place in the vault finals. She was out of action for almost two years.

Dipa was in action on the 4th day of the competition where she failed to qualify in the vaults final, which gave her all the fame after the Rio Olympics. However, she made it to artistic team and beam finals.

She will participate in the beam finals as the event does not demand hard landings.

Dipa said that she felt a jerk during the podium event practise but she will attempt to make up for the lost opportunity by shining in the balancing beam finals. She will feature in the final event on 24th August from 2.38 PM (IST)

Aruna Budda Reddy who became the first Indian gymnast to win an individual medal in Gymnastics world cup will represent India in vaults final alongside Pranati Nayak on 23rd August.
