After a below par season last year, Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and co-owner of Indian Super League side ATK is optimistic about his team’s chances in the upcoming ISL season.
The 2014 and 2016 champions looked totally off-colour in the last season and finished at 9th position which is their worst performance in league’s history.
“To all, this is the new film of the season, hopefully it will bring us luck and we will have a good year. Our record at Hero ISL is phenomenal, yes it wasn’t a great last year but we will surely turn it around this time,” Ganguly said on the sidelines of a promotional shoot.
The Kolkata based franchise which plays its home games at iconic Salt Lake Stadium roped Steve Coppell as their head coach for the upcoming 5th season. Coppell had coached Kerala Blasters to a runners-up finish in his first season. He later took the charge of debutants Jamshedpur FC in last season and guided them to a fifth place.
ATK start off their campaign against Kerala Blasters on September 29 at the Salt Lake stadium.
