Ever since MS Dhoni has retired from the longest format of the game, Bengal’s wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has taken up the role and kept the wickets for India in test match cricket. He continued to be the number one choice until he got his shoulder injured during the South Africa test series in January this year. The selectors showed faith in young Rishabh Pant in the England test series and the Delhi lad has not looked back since then.

Saha has played 32 Tests for India and scored 1164 runs but its his wicket-keeping style that has got all the attention.

The lightning fast stumping or unbelievable reflex catch by MS Dhoni might be enough to give him the best wicket-keeper tag but then it comes down to his unorthodox style that doesn’t get the favours on his side.

Meanwhile, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has said that Saha has been the number one keeper for India in the last five-ten years.

Ganguly further hoped that Saha will recover well in time and get back into the test team.

“He’s been out of the team for about a year now but I think in the last five to ten years, he has been India’s best gloveman. Hope he recovers soon,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by Times of India.

“Injury is not in your hands. Wicket-keeper has to dive and he got injured while diving. It takes a certain time to recover. The faster he recovers, the better it is,” he added.
