Indian women’s team thrashed a much fancied opponents in New Zealand in their world T20 opener to set it up nicely for the tournament. They next got the better of Pakistan and Ireland to book their place in the semi-final stage. The women in blue were the underdogs going into the match against former champions Australia but the Harmanpreet Kaur led side was brave enough to take the fight and finally win by a comfortable margin to top their pool.

Considering the form of the Indian women, it certainly looks that they are contenders for the world cup but standing in their way is a formidable looking England in the semi-final. India will be looking to thump the English side and avenge the loss of 2017 world cup final.

Meanwhile Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has come forward and credited coach Ramesh Powar for the success of the team.

We have better plans and we can aim bigger now. The self-belief (is different). I can give credit to Ramesh (Powar), because from the time he joined our team, our mindset and approach has totally changed,” Harmanpreet told reporters.

Powar came into the charge after the exit of Tushar Arothe. It is learned that the team members were not happy with Arothe’s role which became the reason of his ousted.

Harmanpreet went onto say that the team is not thinking about taking revenge and would just focus on the present scenarios.

“The aim will be to carry on with the winning momentum rather than thinking about revenge. We need to live in the present. At present, we’re doing really well, I think. Other than thinking about the past, we just need to think what we need to do in the next game,” the Indian captain asserted.

“We’re taking it as another game. We just need to focus on what we have done well in the last league games and those things we need to just continue now,” Kaur added.
