India created history after they thumped Australia by 137 runs to take the 2-1 lead in the domain test series with the last test scheduled at Sydney cricket ground in Sydney. Rain was expected to play its part on the final day but Indian bowlers were quick enough to get the job done by picking up last two wickets in just 27 deliveries.
Australian team is expected to come hard at the Indian team in the fourth and decisive test and will hope to draw the test series and snatch the honours of first test win to India on Australian soil.
Australia to rest pace bowling trio for the ODI series
Meanwhile Australia are set to rest their pace bowling trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazzlewood for the three match ODI series against India in order to maintain their workload for the busy calendar year which also includes the ICC world cup.
Coach Justin Langer hinted that they need to keep players fresh for the busy cricket schedule that includes world cup and four Ashes test matches.
“It’s the great conundrum for us, really, how we manage our bowlers. For example, we might not play them in the next three one-dayers so they’re ready for the next two (Tests) to keep them fresh,” Langer was quoted as saying by ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’.
“He (Cummins) has been brilliant, he’s been outstanding but then – as soon as we do that they want to play and also then everyone else would be on our back saying: ‘Why aren’t they playing every single game?’ But if you play every game – we’ve also got a World Cup and Ashes next year – we want him fresh for those things.”
The three pacers will also not feature in the upcoming Indian Premier League(IPL) season.
