Ambati Rayudu impressed in the Asia cup 2018 and West Indies ODI series which ensured that the Andhra batsman cemented his place in the Indian team for the limited overs format. He was instrumental in guiding Chennai Super Kings to IPL triumph in 2018 and soon after was drafted into India’s limited overs squad for England and Ireland tour but a failure in yo-yo test meant that he was sidelined from the team. The selectors gave him a lifeline by bringing him back for the Asia cup and he made the most of the opportunities by scoring heavily for the men in blue.
Rayudu’s action under the scanner
The 33-years-old is currently plying his trade for the national team in the ODI series against Australia. He was out on a duck in the first ODI and even bowled two overs in the first innings which didn’t come well for him as he was reported with a suspected bowling action.
“The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the India team management, cited concerns about the legality of the 33-year-old off-spinner’s bowling action,” An ICC statement read.
ICC will contest the test within the 14 days but through this period he can still bowl in International cricket until cricket’s governing body comes up with a conclusion.
