The build to the upcoming cricket world cup has allready started with less than three months left for cricket’s biggest extravaganza to begin in England and Wales. All the ten participating teams have allready started finalizing their 15-man squad for the event.
India led by Virat Kohli is currently plying its trade in the ODI series against Australia which will be their last bilateral series before the world cup. There are many questions for the team management to answer about the playing XI of the men in blue, especially the batting order. Hardik Pandya’s injury has been another concern for the team management which may open doors for Vijay Shankar in the world cup squad.
Many former cricketers have also given their expert comment and predicted India’s 15-man squad for the marquee event. This time former cricketer VVS Laxman announced his team for the show piece event.
No Rishabh Pant in VVS Laxman’s squad
Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were the three obvious choice in his team, while Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni took the middle order slot. Experienced Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav were the other two options in the middle order.
Aggressive wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was surprisingly not included in Laxman’s team alongside all-rounder Vijay Shankar.
The wristy batsman from Hyderabad preferred KL Rahul as the third opener in the team.
In the bowling department, Laxman backed Khaleel Ahmed to be in the team after the Rajasthan bowler proved way too ordinary in the Australia and New Zealand tour. The pace lineup will also include Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami.
Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will be the two spinners in the team.
VVS Laxman’s predicted 15-man squad
Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli (capt), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Khaleel Ahmed.
