Match-fixing a bigger crime than murder says MS Dhoni

A floury of controversies rolled in the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League. People started believing that the cash rich league is making even the best in the business become greedy.

An investigation was done by SP Kumar in relation to the 2013 IPL match fixing scandal. Kumar submitted a report about a bookie who confessed that Gurunath Meiyappan had informed him about former India captain MS Dhoni losing a match and scoring 140 runs. Meiyappan later agreed of Dhoni’s involvement in the dirty case.

The match was played on 12 May, 2013 where Chennai Super Kings scored 141 runs and Rajasthan Royals won the match.

The Ranchi lad faced immense tension after as the tension of fixing rose in India once again after last 90’s. Some alleged that a calm and composed Dhoni celebrated 2013 Champions trophy win over England because it was a pressure release buster for him after his name was involved in fixing.

The name of the former captain kept picking headlines in the match fixing scandal but there was no legal action taken against him due to unavailability of further evidences and he came out unscratched.

After Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals faced a ban for two IPL seasons, Dhoni moved on to play for Rising Pune Supergiants(later Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017) in the 2016 edition of the IPL but his captaincy could not do wonders for the team and they finished bottom of the table.

In the 2017 season, Steve Smith was made the captain of the team and he led the team to the finals where they lost a close battle against Mumbai Indians. Dhoni returned back to Chennai Super Kings and led an aged team to trophy triumph in a format which is considered more of a youngsters game.
