24th April 1973 was the day when world saw the birth of God of cricket- Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Born to Ramesh Tendulkar and Rajni Tendulkar in Dadri, Mumbai, the little master was allready a much hyped cricketer during his younger days in Mumbai cricket. Due to his stupendous run, he made his India debut at a minor age of 16 against arch-rivals Pakistan. Despite bloodied nose and few failures, the little master went onto become the greatest batsman of his time and possibly the second best after Don Bradman.
The 46-year-old went onto amass 34,357 runs across three formats — 15,921 in 200 Tests, 18426 in 463 ODIs and 10 in 1 T20 international. At the brink of retirement in 2010, Tendulkar became the first batsman to score 200 runs in ODI cricket after he notch up a double century against South Africa in Gwalior.
The master blaster made a record six appearance at the cricket world cup and finally went onto win on one occasion in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The dream journey which was followed by million of fans came to a halt when Tendulkar played his last game for India in 2013- his 200th Test — at his home ground- Wankhede stadium in November 2013.
Six years after he hung up his boots, his popularity still continues to grow amongst the fans which can be understood by his social media following. As the master celebrates his 46th birthday today, we take a look at the best wishes from twitter.
