Team India registered a resounding 89-run victory over Pakistan in the high profile world cup clash in Manchester on Sunday. After winning the toss, Pakistani captain Sarfaraz Ahmed asked India to bat first which was proved wrong by a 136 run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and his new partner KL Rahul.
Rahul perished after completing his fifty which brought skipper Virat Kohli to the crease. The Indian captain stitched a 98-run stand with Rohit Sharma that put India in a commanding situation. During the course of the match, Pakistani spinner Imad Wasim joined his hands infront of Kohli while he was completing a run with the expression of “sparing them”.

The 30-year-old went onto score 77 runs before he was dismissed by his nemesis Mohammad Amir. In the video replay it was clearly visible that the ball didn’t hit the bat and it turned out to be a big mistake by the Indian captain.
India went onto win the clash by 89 runs courtesy Duckworth Lewis Stern method to maintain their unbeaten run against Pakistan in world cup history.
“It is going really nicely at the moment. Kuldeep was brilliant, those guys were only trying to play him out. A longer spell helped in that situation and he was getting into rhythm. They were thinking that he would go out of the attack sooner rather than later. That ball to dismiss Babar was just outstanding with the drift, the turn and just beating the batsman batting so well,” Kohli told Sanjay Manjrekar in the post match presentation.
“This is the best he has been bowling since coming to England and him confident with Chahal is going to be an important factor for us in the tournament,” he added.
India next face a low-lying Afghanistan in their next clash on Saturday.
