Ever since the start of the world cup, there has been a wide debate over the most balanced side of the tournament. To make this easier for the viewers and cricket fans, former India cricketer VVS Laxman has revealed the most balanced side of World Cup 2019.

During the commentary of England vs Afghanistan game, a twitter user asked about the most balanced side of the world cup to which Laxman replied with “England”.

“They have depth in their batting line-up. If you see Chris Woakes, who bats at number 8 and Adil Rashid, who has a first class hundred, can bat down the order. They even don’t have a weak bowling line up. Archer, Wood, Woakes and especially Wood can strike with the new ball alongside Archer. In the spin department they have wrist spinner Adil Rashid and off-spinner spinner Moeen Ali, so they have balance in their bowling line-up. As far as im concerned, England is the most balanced side in the world cup,” Laxman said.

Hosts England announced their arrival in style by defeating South Africa by 104 runs. They were the overwhelming favourites against Pakistan but the men in green had some other ideas as they put up a score of 348 runs which England failed to chase in their quota of 50 overs, losing the match by 14 runs. England pipped Bangladesh by 106 runs in their third world cup game. They were good enough to win against Bangladesh and West Indies by 106 runs and 8 wickets respectively.

The hosts next pipped Afghanistan in a high scoring game at Manchester. Eoin Morgan’s side scored 397/6 in their quota of 50 overs after skipper notched an innings of 148 runs off just 71 balls which comprised 17 massive sixes. In reply, Afghanistan showed intent but fell short by 150 runs and finished on 247/8 in their quota of 50 overs.
