Defending champions USA reached their third consecutive finals after pipping a strong England 2-1 in a hard fought game in Lyon. America suffered two decisive moments in the game but came out strong to register a comprehensive win. One goal was denied for offside and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher saved a penalty.
In the other semi-final of FIFA women’s world cup 2019, Netherlands pipped Sweden 1-0 to book a place in the finals. Manchester United’s Jackie Groenen goal in the 9th minute of the game was the difference between the two teams.
