MS Dhoni's parents want him to retire from cricket, the reason is surprising

Speculations of MS Dhoni’s retirement is rife ever since India’s loss to New Zealand in World Cup semi-final by 18 runs to bow out of the show piece event. India topped the table with 16 points in 9 games that includes a washed off game against New Zealand and a loss against England.

According to reports, Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the tour of the West Indies but he will help the team in this phase of transition. He is expected to help Rishabh Pant, who will now be the number one choice wicket-keeper across all three formats of the game.

Dhoni is currently suffering from an injury and that is the reason why he may not ply his trade in the upcoming West Indies series.

MS Dhoni’s parents want him to retire

MS Dhoni’s childhood coach Keshav Banerjee visited the resident of 38-year-old where his parents told him that the veteran of 350 ODIs should now hang his boots. They said that they can’t handle the big property of the cricketer.

‘Dhoni’s parents told me that the entire media is saying that he should retire, and we feel they’re right. They said we can’t handle this big property anymore,” Banerjee told Sports Tak.

In reply, Banerjee told them that the veteran should play for one more year and call it a day after the 2020 World T20 which is schedule to take place in Australia. “You’ve handled it for so long – around 10 to 12 years. You can do it another year,” he added.

The 38-year-old was blamed for India’s loss as he failed to score at a quick pace which put all the pressure on Ravindra Jadeja and he perished playing a big shot. Dhoni scored 273 runs with an average over 45 in the 2019 World Cup but his inability to keep the score ticking has drawn criticism.
