Six records that India broke in the 1st test against West Indies

India started their World Test Championship campaign on a positive note as they bundled out West Indies under 27 overs of the fourth innings to win the test by 318 runs. With the one sided win, India take a 1-0 lead in the two match test series and secure 60 points.

1- Becoming the most successful captain

With the triumph, Virat Kohli now becomes the most successful captain at foreign tour with most number of wins. He has left behind big names like Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni. Virat has led Team India in 25 tests oversees and won on 12 occasions.

2- Virat Kohli equaling the record

Virat Kohli also equaled the record of MS Dhoni for most number of win in test matches. Kohli has won 27 games out of 47 matches, while MS Dhoni has 27 wins in 60 matches as a captain.

3- Team India’s biggest win

This is Team India’s biggest win based on runs outside the home. Earlier in the year 2017, India won by 304 runs against Sri Lanka in Galle.

4- Virat Kohli’s record as a captain

With this victory, Virat Kohli has become the captain to win more than 100 international matches.

5- Ajinkya Rahane’s century

Ajinkya Rahane became the fourth player to score the most hundreds, batting at number five for India in Test cricket. He has scored nine centuries. Mohammed Azharruddin is the first number in this list with 20 centuries. Jointly at number two and three are VVS Laxman (11) and Sourav Ganguly (10) and Poly Umrigar (10) respectively.

6- Virat and Rahane’s partnership

Talking of test match cricket, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli are number one in terms of notching up a century partnership for the fourth wicket for India. These two have formed a century partnership eight times. At number two is the pair of Sachin-Ganguly (seven centuries).

The second test is schedule to start from August 30 in Sabina Park, Jamaica.
