Cricket demands dedication and investment of time which makes it difficult for an individual to concentrate on studies and game together. There have been many cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Kaif, Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh, who have just studied till class 10th. The Wall of Indian team was pursuing MBA at the time of maiden national call-up. He completed his schooling from Saint Joseph school in Bengaluru.
6- Ajinkya Rahane
Indian vice skipper in test cricket has been rock solid when it comes to batting. Rahane made his India debut in 2013 and is a commerce graduate. He completed his schooling from SV Joshi highschool.
5- Javagal Srinath
Known as “Mysore express”, the veteran pacer holds a B.tech degree in Instrumental technology. Srinath currently works as a match referee for ICC.
4- VVS Laxman
Laxman is few of those cricketers who come from a family of doctors. His parents are doctor and he himself was a good student. He got admitted into a medical University but he choosed cricket over MBBS.
3- R. Ashwin
This senior off-spinner holds a B.tech degree from SSN college of engineering in information technology. Before becoming a professional cricketer, Ashwin has worked in big IT firms like cognizant technology solutions.
2- Gautam Gambhir
The former India opener turned politician, finished his graduation from Hindu College, University of Delhi.
1- Sourav Ganguly
Once a football player, this former India captain completed his graduation in commerce from St. Xaviers College in Kolkata. Ganguly also holds a honorary Ph.d degree.

Born in 1972, Khurasiya once featured in a star studded Indian line up featuring Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Ajay Jadeja. He was a young prodigy who broke into his state team at the age of 17 and went onto make his India debut in Pepsi Cup against Sri Lanka in 1999.
The middle order batsman will always be remember for his quickfire 57 runs off just 45 balls in the Indian colors. His career for the men in blue just lasted for 12 matches where he scored 149 runs and was last seen in the match against Sri Lanka in 2001. The MP lad was a heavyweight in the domestic circuit, scoring over 7000 runs in just 199 matches.
However, many few know that before making his India debut, he cracked the UPSC examination. He still followed his passion of playing cricket and went onto make India debut despite having a Civil services job. As per some media reports, Khurasiya now holds the post of an inspector in Indian Customs & Central Excise Department.
