Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami were star for India in the first test against South Africa at Vizag. Shami was impressive in the recent while but a five wicket haul was due. The Bengal cricketer delivered when it mattered the most and picked five wickets in the second innings to set up a mammoth 203 runs victory for India to claim 40 points and consolidate their numero uno position in world test championship.
Rohit Sharma was known as a white ball great but the Nagpur born batsman gave a good glimpse of how good he can be in the longest version of the game. He scored 176 and 127 runs to make his presence felt and cement his place as an opener in the team.
Rohit Sharma was center of attraction at the post match presentation but he made sure that Shami’s contribution was mentioned.
“It was pretty humid and hot out there and I thought more than the spinners, the fast bowlers actually looked very dangerous on that particular pitch. So we wanted Shami and Ishant to be fresh in case there might not be any help for the spinners as the game progressed which we saw happening later. So we wanted our fast bowlers to be fresh and we decided we will try and make them bowl in short spells of 2 or 3 overs,” said Rohit.
A reporter asked the secret of bowling consistently to which Rohit cracked some funny bones and replied that Biryani does the trick for him.
And we all know when Shami is fresh what he can do along with some biryani,”he said.
