Two Bangladesh batsmen Liton Das and Naeem Hassan, retired-hurt while batting on the opening day of the historic day-night Test against India, forcing the guests to field players who had not got a place in the playing XI. In this way, 13 players from Bangladesh are playing against India in the historic pink ball test against India.
Both Liton and Naeem were hit by Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, after which Mehdi Hasan and Taizul Islam were fielded as concussion substitutes. Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman Liton was rushed to the hospital for a scan after which Mehidy Hasan replaced him. Its worth mentioning that Hasan could not bowl in the match as he was replacing a batsman.
With the two injuries, Bangladesh thus became the first team to field two ‘CONCUSION SUBSTITUTES’ in a Test match. Mehdi, however, became the victim of fast bowler Ishant Sharma by adding just eight runs to his tally.
Liton was hit by a ball before lunch, after which the physio reached the ground and inquired him about his situation. Liton continued to bat and hit a four on the next ball and he continued to score 9 more runs before complaining of discomfort. After talking to the umpire, he left the ground and lunch was also taken on the score of 73 runs for six wickets.
