Many cricketers have their own style of celebration but it becomes worse for them when they get it back from another player. The same incident happened in the 1st T20 between India and West Indies on Friday, when Virat Kohli mocked Kesrick Williams’ notebook celebration.
Earlier in the game, West Indies scored 207/5 at the end of 20 overs on a batting friendly wicket of Hyderabad. The men in blue needed to break their own record if they stand any chance to chase the mammoth target. The highest successful chase by the Indian team came way back in 2009, when they chased down 207 against Sri Lanka.
India lost Rohit Sharma early after which Virat Kohli put up a 100 runs stand with KL Rahul to keep India in the hunt. Virat struggled in the initial phase of his innings and looked annoyed with himself. However, trash talks from the opponent bowlers raised his intensity and he striked the ball to all corners of the field.
West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard introduced Kesrick Williams in the 16th over to pick the wicket of Kohli and bring them back in the game. On the very first ball, Williams tried to bowl a yorker and it turned out to be a half volley which was smashed down the ground for a four. The bowler tried another yorker on the next ball but he got dispatched for a monstrous six over long on.
Soon after this, Virat imitated a Kesrick Williams’ action of notebook celebration. The Windies bowler tried to sledge him in the earlier part of the innings and it was a payback time for him. Williams execute this celebration when he picks up a wicket and it became famous in Caribbean Premier league.

Post the match, Virat said that he gave it back to Williams as he had dismissed him in Jamaica, when India toured West Indies.
“It’s not the CPL, it happened to me in Jamaica when he got me out. So I thought I’ll tick a few in the notebook as well, but all good. There were a few words, but smiles at the end. That’s what you want to see. Good competitive cricket but in the end shake hands and give a hi-fi. That’s what cricket is all about. Play it hard but have respect for opponents,” Virat said in post match presentation.
