India started off the three match T20 series on a winning note after they pipped Australia by 11 runs in Canberra to take a lead of 1-0. After winning the toss, Aaron Finch chose to bowl first. Indian batters looked inferior at the the start as the visitors were struggling at 92/5 in 13.5 at one stage. Things looked a bit difficult and it was a challenge for the Indian team to put up a good total on board.
Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja looked to repeat the heroic of the third ODI but the former batsman perished on a personal score of 16 off 15 balls. Jadeja took off from here on and scored 44 off 23 balls to take India to a respectable total of 161/7. In the process he got hit on head and was ruled out for rest of the match and Yuzvendra Chahal came in place of him as a concussion substitute.
All-rounder Moises Henriques was the pick of the Aussie bowlers with the figures of 3/22. Mitchell Starc picked 2 wickets and Zampa, Swepson picked one wicket each.
Australia got yet another solid start as Finch and D Arcy Short added 56 runs for first wicket in just 7.3 overs before the former batsman fell Chahal. Australia lost three quick wickets in form of Steve Smith(12), Glenn Maxwell(2) and were struggling at 75/3.
D Arcy Short and Moises Henriques tried to build the innings together but T Natarajan proved too good and dismissed the former batsman. Australia could not recover from here on and kept losing wickets in quick succession to lose the match by 11 runs.
Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of Indian bowlers with the figures of 3/25, while debutant T Natarajan returned with the figures of 3/30. Deepak Chahar chipped in with 1 wicket.
