India is a country of billions but out of those we only can produce a bunch of athletes who can be the super power to go into the Olympics and win a medal for the country. Whether its cricket, any Olympics sports or non Olympic sports, India has great talent but few only get nurtured to make it big and shine for the country.
There are talents on the district and state level which faces corruption and as a result they kill their dream and get content with life with what they don’t want to do. Great talents have to sit out just because they are asked for bribe and if they fail to pay, they are sidelined and an inferior talent gets selected on his place.
Talent makes room and gets the eyeballs someday because talent will somehow find a way to be at the top as money can’t buy everything. An athlete still has to face the corruption of sports, the ones who survives it, they make it big and don’t look back from there on. Many Indian hockey players, archers amongst others are from less privileged families but their talent took them to big stage.
Indian captain Virat Kohli in an interview revealed how corruption in Indian sports is largely affecting Indian athletes and even he faced the same.
“There was a time in my life when there was an opportunity, i was selected for U14 Delhi team and then i was dropped because of some complications that you know how Indian state levels work. Someone was preferred over me because of some compensations that was done and stuffs like that and same was offered to my father as well.
“They said to my father if you can, he might get selected and he said that i am not gonna pay a single penny to make him play, if he can play on his talent, if not it is not meant for him,” Kohli said in interview with Dinesh Karthik.
