PV Sindhu fought from a game down to book her berth in the semi finals of Indonesia Open Super 1000 event in Bali. This will be the third semi-final of Sindhu ever since she returned from the break which she took after winning the historic Olympic bronze medal at Tokyo. Sindhu was defeated by Sayaka Takashi and An Se Young in the two semi-finals and she will now look forward to book the finals spot but a stern test in Ratchanok Intanon awaits her in the semi-finals.
Match report
The Koren showed great pace on the court and won the first game easily 21-14 in just 17 minutes. Sindhu showed her composure and won the second game 21-19 after a see saw battle in the penultimate moments of the game. It was level at 11-11 at one stage in game three but the reigning world champion showed her experience and composure to outwit the 22-year-old Korean 21-14 to win the quarter final clash in 1 hour and 6 minutes.
Head to Head with Ratchanok Intanon
Sindhu had difficulty when she faced the Thai shuttler in the past and the head to head of 8-6 in favour of Intanon, suggests the same. The two last met in the group stage of BWF World Tour finals where Intanon pipped Sindhu 21-18, 21-13. The Indian shuttler is ranked 7th in the world and is seeded 6th in the tournament while Intanon is ranked 8th in the world but is seeded 2nd in the tournament.
