Double Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar faces a legal trouble. As Delhi Police has registered a FIR against him and his followers. Earlier Sushil’s supporter clashed with the supporters of Wrestler Praveen Rana after the trials of 2018 Commonwealth Games on Friday. Kumar however got the better of Rana in semi final and later qualified for 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
“We have registered an FIR against wrestler Sushil Kumar and his supporters. An FIR has been lodged under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) MS Randhawa said.
The alleged supporters of both the wrestlers attacked each other mercilessly. The incident took place after Sushil qualified for 2018 Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast,Australia. Kumar edge past Jitendra Kumar in finals by a slight margin of 4-3. KD Jadhav wrestling hall of Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium, served as the venue.
Praveen Rana
A group of nearly 40 peoples entered the warm-up area and attacked each other. Praveen Rana tried some un-worthy acts on the mat, igniting the emotions and anger in Sushil’s supporters. Naveen Rana, the brother of Praveen Rana also threw some nasty words at Sushil’s father-in-law, Satpal. This aroused the supporters of Sushil. As a result, they attacked the supporters of Praveen Rana along with his brother. Rana’s followers called the police and blamed Sushil’s followers for violence.
The country’s most decorated wrestler, Sushil, recently won the Commonwealth Wrestling Championships, after making his international comeback. He took a three-year break following an injury.
