The 2018 Commonwealth Games has brought historic feat for the Indian contingent as they finished with 10 more gold medal from the last edition of the games. The racquet sports has brought laurels to the country, among those is badminton where India has showed their supremacy, best example being the All India finals in the women’s singles category where senior compatriot Saina Nehwal got the better of PV Sindhu, to claim her second gold medal at Commonwealth Games.
It was an early Sunday morning for the Indian fans as they got up early to catch the action unfold between two of the most decorated shuttlers from the country- PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, among those lakhs of spectators one fan was Master blaster “Sachin Tendulkar”, who had a congratulatory message for both the shuttlers after the gruelling final.
Sachin took to social media and said, “Two of India’s daughters fought it out in the #GC2018Badminton final for a Gold Medal. Extremely proud of you both. Setting a perfect example for budding players. Congratulations, @NSaina(Saina Nehwal) on emerging victorious and well fought, @Pvsindhu1(PV Sindhu). #GC2018.
In a packed house at Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre both the superstar shuttlers produced an exherilating contest, but it was Saina who eked out a win and defeated Sindhu in straight games 21-18, 21-19.
Saina Nehwal’s aggression and intensity quite literally wilted P V Sindhu, who had to settle for a silver medal.
