Ravi Shastri has gone past Virender Sehwag , Tom Moody , Lalchand Rajput to acquire the post of being coach of the Indian cricket team . The partnership of Virat-Shastri will continue till 2019 world cup . Also, Bharat Arun has been appointed as the bowling coach whereas , Sanjay Bangar has been made the batting consultant.

- He became the manager of Indian cricket team for the first time on Bangladesh tour after the controversial exit of Greg Chappel.
- Shastri is the 2nd player after Gary Sobers to hit six 6’s in an over ,he achieved this feat against Tilak Raj in a match between Mumbai and Baroda .
- In his playing career ,he was tall and good looking and termed as the “Play Boy” of Indian cricket team . His affair with Amrita Singh was publicised .
- Shastri started his test career batting at number 10 but he impressed one and all to acquire an opening slot for himself.
