India’s legendary paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal has outshined Sathiyan Gnanasekaran to become the top ranked Indian Table Tennis player. He jumped 10 places to sit at 33rd position in the world. He is followed by fellow state player Sathiyan Gnanasekaran at 40.
Sharath is one short of his career best ranking of 32 in the world which he achieved in May 2015. The 36-years-old from Chennai has been on a rise after he won his eighth national title in Ranchi.
The rankings were released taking the consideration of recently concluded ITTF events in South Korea and Australia.
Other’s men’s ranking
Harmeet Desai dropped 20 places down to 99. He was ranked 79 before the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Rape accused paddler Soumyajit Ghosh who has been out of action dropped three places to 109.
Women’s ranking
Commonwealth Games gold medallist Manika Batra regained 24 places to be ranked at 57. She was ranked 58 before the Commonwealth games but dropped down drastically in past three months.
Ayhika Mukherjee lost one spot to be at No. 118. Mouma Das lost two spots to be ranked 122, while Madhurika Patkar climbed 28 spots to be at 125.
