The world sets itself for the 18th edition of the Asian Games as the biggest Asian sporting extravaganza begins 18th August in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta and Palembang. The games will be host to over 10,000 athletes from 45 countries competing in 462 events in 40 different sports.
This will be the first time when the games will be held in two different cities. However, the opening and closing ceremonies of the games will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta.
Vietnam was the original hosts for the event but they withdrew in 2014 following financial reasons. Indonesia later won the bid and got ready to host the 18th edition of the games.
