Former India and Mumbai spinner Ramesh Powar was today named head coach of the women’s national team till the ICC World T20, scheduled to be held in November. Powar term in office will include the tour of Sri Lanka, a tri series in West Indies in October followed by the ICC Women’s world T20 in West Indies in November.

The BCCI has appointed Mr. Ramesh Powar as Head Coach of the Indian Women’s Team. Mr. Powar has now been handed over full time duties till 30th November, 2018.
About Ramesh Powar
The Mumbai spinner was appointed as the interim coach of the women’s team last month after the controversial resignation of former coach Tushar Arothe who coached the side to women’s world cup final in 2017.
As per the Supreme Court instructions, a Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) can appoint a fulltime coach on a long-term basis.
Powar’s playing career
Powar has featured for the Indian team from 2004 to 2007 in which he played 31 ODIs and 2 test matches, picking 34 and 6 wickets respectively.
He got more recognition in domestic cricket having featured for Mumbai from 1999-2013. He has also played for Rajasthan and Gujarat.
