“It was really tough for me, because snow fall happens for a short duration of time in India. As a result, i had to do my training outside the country,”. Aanchal Thakur said.
Aanchal’s father said, European players get to train for 10 months in a calendar year, while our players can only opt for two month training, as the cost of training abroad is really costly. Following her daughter’s historic feet, he hopes, the government will start taking interest in Winter sports.

What is Slalom Race
Aanchal Thakur won the bronze in Slalom race at Alpine Ejder 3200 Cup. International skiing federation serves as the event organizer. Slalom is an alpine skiing and alpine snowboarding discipline, involving skiing between poles or gates. These are spaced more closely than those in giant slalom, super giant slalom and downhill, necessitating quicker and shorter turns.
The 21 years old hails from Manali in Himachal Pradesh and the state government has decided to feliciate its daughter with a prize money of 5 Lakh Rupees. Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur confirmed it on Wednesday. CM further expressed immense happiness and congratulated Aanchal on the historic feet.
