India won the test series by a convincing 2-1 margin after the last test at Sydney was washed away by rain which could well make the series in favour of India 3-1. The focus will now shift to the ODI series where both the teams will be eyeing victory to start their preparation for world cup 2019 on a good note. Australia will have the edge of history going into the series as they have a record of 73-45 in head to head against India.
Australia is currently going through a transition phase and their youngsters doesn’t have great firepower to challenge India on every frontier which may well set up nicely for the visitors to win another series in Australia.
Anil Kumble predicts the winner of the series
Former India captain and coach Anil Kumble has donned the prediction hat and predicted that India may win the ODI series 2-1 but it will not be an easy task.
“Yes, they do. Obviously, Australia is a weaker side because the regular bowlers who play in the one-day format are not playing. But having said that, if you look at seven or eight players who are joining the Indian ODI squad, they have hardly played any cricket,” Kumble said while speaking to Cricketnext.
Its worth mentioning that Kumble correctly predicted the winning margin of test series as India won it 2-1 and his distant view may again be an indication that India might win the ODI series with same margin.
