Biopics of famous cricketers like MS Dhoni and Mohammad Azharuddin have allready did wonders on silver screen. People are craving for real life stories which become a source of their inspiration and there might be another reason for the real life story lovers to rejoice as another biopic on a cricketer will hit the silver screen in the coming future.
If reports are to be believed, then a biopic will be made on the resurgence of Dinesh Karthik and the struggles he faced in life. Karthik was a promising prospect for the national team when he made his India debut in 2004 at 19. His run scoring form for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket created alot of hype but he failed to deliver for the national team.
In the 2007 England tour, bowlers like Ryan Sidebottom troubled the Indian batters in the longest format but it was Karthik who was one of the most confident batter facing the lanky pacer. Karthik proved his mettle in the series and was certain of a long run in the blue jersey.
He was given ample opportunities to cement his place but the rise of MS Dhoni”the batsman” to MS Dhoni”the wicketkeeper” kept Karthik out of India contention after he failed to deliver on a consistent basis.
Karthik made a comback in the Indian team for a Nidahas T20 trophy in Sri Lanka last year. India needed 34 runs in the last two overs when Karthik arrived to the crease alongside a struggling Vijay Shankar at other end. The Tamil Nadu batsman bashed Mustafiqur Rahman for 22 runs in 19th over and surged his way ahead.
India needed five runs off the last ball bowled by Soumya Sarkar and the situation was well handled by Dinesh Karthik. He hit a flat six over extra cover to win the game and trophy fir India and become an overnight hero in the country.
Since then, he is in team’s plans for the world cup and has been in and out of the limited overs series. He was tested in the England test series but some unimpressive numbers with the bat ousted him from the longest format of the game.
Karthik’s personal life has also been full of up’s and down’s. In 2012, he divorced his wife Nikita Vanjara after he found that she was pregnant with the child of India’s test specialist Murali Vijay, who used to be best friends with Karthik back then.
The 33-years-old married squash player Dipika Pallikal in 2015 and since then positivity has followed his personal and professional life.
