In a happening news to Indian sporting fans, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has given identification to India’s very own sport of Kho-Kho. The decision came after Kho-Kho was taken in the General Assembly of the OCA on August 19 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The buildout has been welcomed by India’s Sports Minister and 2004 Athens Olympics Silver medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
The game might be introduced in Asian Indoor Games and may included in 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
This development will take Kho-Kho to the world- Rathore
“It is great that India’s indigenous sport Kho-Kho has been recognised as a discipline in the Asian Games. This development demonstrates the growing influence of India in the world of sports and will take Kho-Kho beyond the shores of the country across Asian nations and perhaps soon to the world,” Rathore said
My Take
India is a dominant force in its very own Kabaddi and introduction of Kho-Kho will ensure India another gold medals. Keeping my fingers crossed for 2022 Asian Games and hopefully for the Olympics too.
