3:) KL Rahul showed some form in the last test against England by playing an impact innings of 149 runs to keep India in the game at one stage. He will probably take the number 3 position and will want to do justice with a position which is held by Virat Kohli. Rahul has played 11 ODIs for India, in which he has opened for 6 times, played at number 3 and number 5 once, played at number 4 thrice.
4:) In form Ambati Rayudu made headlines in this year’s IPL and got rewarded for his performance after he was selected for the India limited overs team for England tour. He was later dropped from the team after failing the controversial yo-yo test. The Hyderabad batsman was given another lifeline in Asia Cup and he will be eyeing to cement his place at a position which is yet to find a perfect candidate.
5:) The most experienced player of the team- MS Dhoni, will take the number 5 slot. He will have the responsibility of rescuing the team from tricky situations and also thrashing the bowlers in the penultimate overs of the match. He scored 79 runs in two innings in England but his strike rate was just 63 batting at number 6, which may force the management to push him up the batting order and give the baton to any other player when it comes to finishing the job.
