Asia Cup 2018: Key Indian all-rounder ruled out of the tournament

Injury concerns have surrounded Asia Cup 2018, as of now India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ongoing continental event following an acute back injury which he caught during the match against Pakistan on Wednesday.

Sources also reveal that Rajasthan all-rounder Deepak Chahar will replace him in the team.

Scenario

Hardik Pandya came to bowl the 18th over of the match but he got down immediately after bowling a bowl. He suffered a lower back injury which meant that he left the field on stretcher. It was the fifth delivery and Pandya, after completing the follow through, immediately felt his lower back and lay on the ground in considerable pain.

Who could be considered in his place

Deepak Chahar was star for Chennai Super Kings in this year’s IPL season but he may not be a quality all-rounder which may fill the void of Pandya.

An elder brother(Krunal Pandya) replacing a younger brother could be considered. The senior Pandya starred for Baroda in yesterday’s Vijay Hazare trophy opening day clash against a tough Mumbai. Krunal scored a well made 85 runs, batting at a tricky number 3 slot. Though Mumbai won the match by 9 wickets, courtesy of Ajinkya Rahane and Prithvi Shaw’s brilliance but Pandya was the only bowler to take the wicket in the innings for Baroda, finishing with the figures of 1/34 at an economy of 5.67.
