India’s chances of making it to Asia Cup 2022 finals will be bleak after they lost to host Sri Lanka by 4 wickets at Dubai International stadium. The Indian team lost to Pakistan by 5 wickets in their first Super 4 encounter and they needed to win their rest of the matches to make it to the finals straight away.
After losing the second consecutive toss in the super 4, India was asked to bat first and lost KL Rahul and Virat Kohli early. Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma build the Indian innings thereafter but losing wickets in middle and death overs proved too decisive and India could only manage 173 runs on a pitch which was expected to be better in the second innings.
Sri Lanka got off to a flier but India fought back in the middle overs. The match was evenly poised before skipper Dasun Shanaka came to rescue and played a cameo to take the Lankan Lions home.
