Australian Open 2020: Novak Djokovic thumps Dominic Thiem in men's singles final

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic once again established his reign at the Australian Open. In the final of the first Grand Slam of 2020, Djokovic defeated Dominic Thiem of Austria 6-4, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 to claim the title of men’s singles on Sunday. This is his eighth Australian Open title and he now has 17 Grand Slam titles in his account. After winning the first set, Djokovic lost the second and third sets, but by the fourth set, he made a comeback and made history by winning both the last sets. Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the semi-finals.

Novak now sits on the 3rd spot in the number of grand slams won by a singles tennis star. He is just behind Roger Federer with 20 titles and Rafael Nadal with 19 titles.The Serbian star has been a dominant performer on the hard court of the Australian open as he has won the men’s singles titles in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020.
