Shoaib Malik hit on the head firmly, shows signs of delayed concussion.

Pakistani All-rounder, Shoaib Malik has shown signs of delayed concussion after being hit on the head during the fourth One-Day International between New Zealand and Pakistan in Hamilton on Tuesday. Shoaib Malik was struck on the back of the head while running between the wickets during the fourth ODI in Hamilton. Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the news of cricketer showing symptoms of concussion in the dressing room afterwards. Shoaib Malik didn’t not came out to field in second innings.

Malik came out to bat without the helmet while the spinners were in action. The incident occurred in the 32nd over, when he set off for a quick single but was sent back by Mohammad Hafeez. He was struck by Colin Munro’s throw while trying to make his ground. The ball was thrown at such a pace that it ricocheted to the boundary. Malik went down immediately, and was treated by the team doctor on the field. He resumed batting after some time and was dismissed three balls later.

“Shoaib was assessed by the match doctor and myself,” Pakistan team physiotherapist VB Singh said during the mid-innings break in Hamilton according to ESPN Cricinfo.

“He did not have any symptoms of a concussion and was able to carry on playing. After getting out, he was reassessed and was showing delayed concussion signs. He is doing well and is resting. As advised by the match doctor and Pakistan team physiotherapist, he will not be taking any further part in the match,” he added.
