Bangladeshi cricketer Mosaddek Hossain Saikat may face the heat as his wife has accused him of steering her out of their home and torturing her over dowry, a media report said today. Mosaddek married his cousin Sharmin Samira Usha six years ago.
He was recently included in the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming Asia Cup to be held from September 13-28 in the UAE. Some serious allegations against him may keep his place in danger in the squad.
Sharmin had filed the case with Rosina Khan, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Mymensingh on Sunday afternoon.
Allegations by Sharmin’s brother
“Whenever my sister asks him to stop such activities, he gets heated and that’s the beginning of contention as well as distance. Although everything was fine in the beginning, Mosaddek started to lose his morality after getting chance in the Bangladesh national team. We realize that star fame, name-calling, and money have changed him.”
Sharmin’s lawyer Rezaul Karim Dulal alleged that Mosaddek has been torturing her for dowry over a long time.
“He (Mosaddek) tortured her and drove her out of home for 1 million taka (12,003 USD) in dowry on August 15,” he claimed.
Mosaddek resides in capital city of Dhaka but he has not brought his wife to live together, rather she stays in their hometown Mymensingh. It is learned that Mosaddek was involved in extra-marital affair with other women which came to notice of his wife, who received mental and physical torture after protesting.
Cricketing career
Mosaddek got the eye of the selectors after his impressive run for his domestic side Barisal. He made his international debut against Zimbabwe in September 2016. Since then the 22-year-old has represented his country in 21 ODIs, 8 T20Is, and 2 Test matches.
