BCCI today announced the 16-member India squad for the One day International series against Australia and New Zealand as Manish Pandey and Rishabh Pant were the absentees in the squad. Hardik Pandya who suffered a career threatening injury during Asia cup returned to the team alongside Kedar Jadhav. The men in blue will play a three match ODI series in Australia before travelling to New Zealand for a five match ODI series.
There were speculations that the selectors will opt for the players who are likely candidates for the 2019 world cup and the current 16 member squad certainly looks to be the final set of troops that will put India’s challenge in 2019 world cup.
Out of form KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik were doubtful for selection courtesy of their form in the 50 over format but selectors named them in the squad.
MS Dhoni also retained his place in the team and will play any competitive match after October 2018.
Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal retained their place in the team alongside Ravindra Jadeja who impressed in the Asia Cup 2018.
The selectors ousted Umesh Yadav who didn’t impress in the ODI series against West Indies and named Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Khaleel Ahmed and Mohammed Shami in the squad.
