BCCI says “no” to T20 World Cup every year and 50 over World Cup every 3 year

BCCI says "no" to T20 World Cup every year and 50 over World Cup every 3 year

The electoral process is currently underway for new office bearers of BCCI management. However, new members and heads elected on 23 October may face a new dispute with the ICC. The ICC’s proposed future tours of the program (FTP) could adversely affect the revenue of the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI).
The new proposal offers to have the T20 World Cup every year and the 50-over World Cup once in three years. Through this, the ICC intends to enter the global media rights market for the period 2023-2028 so that it can get a bigger share of revenue from potential broadcasters like Star Sports.

It will be a big challenge for BCCI headed by President Sourav Ganguly. The FTP is the calendar that the ICC and member countries create separately for a period of five years under which bilateral and multinational tournaments are played. The proposed draft for the period after 2023 was recently discussed at the ICC Chief Executive meeting. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri clearly said in an email to ICC CEO Manu Sawhney that the decision would not be correct for several reasons.

A senior BCCI officer said that the board will take strict measures against the decision after the elections results. He further explained how BCCI would incur huge loss with the new proposed idea of ICC.
