Best reactions after India wins the T20 series against West Indies in Mumbai

India won the third and final t20 against West Indies by 67 runs at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai to win the series 2-1. India won the first game of the series in Hyderabad but West Indies hit back in the 2nd t20 to level the series in Trivandrum.

In the do or die encounter, West Indies won a crucial toss and elected to bowl first on the batting friendly wicket of Wankhede. Bowling second may have been a tough task as the dew was a big factor but Virat Kohli did the right thing by bringing in Mohammed Shami in place of Ravindra Jadeja as it would have been a tough job for the spinners to grip the ball.

India got off to a flier courtesy Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul as this new opening pair added 135 runs in 11.4 overs to put India on the driving seat. After the dismissal of Rohit(71 off 34 balls), India lost the way in the innings as Rishabh Pant also perished on a golden duck.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul took the innings forward and the game slowly drifted away from the visitors. Both the batsman took charge of the Windies bowlers and Virat Kohli(70 off 29 balls) went onto complete his half century in just 21 balls. Both the batsman added 95 runs in just 48 balls to take India’s score to 240/3 at the end of 20 overs. KL Rahul impressed with his innings of 91 runs and perished in the last over, playing a big shot but only ending up getting caught by wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran.

West Indies opener Evin Lewis was not able to bat as a soft tissue in his leg was injured on the field. Brandon King and Lendl Simmons opened the innings but were unable to provide a solid foundation. At 17/2, the visitors lost both their batsman as Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar striked early.

The third pacer- Deepak Chahar didn’t hold back and send Nicholas Pooran packing on a duck. Shimron Hetmyer(41 off 24 balls) and skipper Kieron Pollard tried to bring back Windies in the game but their resistance was finally broken by Kuldeep Yadav, who dismissed a dangerous looking Hetmyer.

At 91/4, the game was drifting away from West Indies and the dismissal of Jason Holder(8 off 5 balls) didn’t help their cause. West Indies kept losing wickets at regular intervals and Kieron Pollard proved to be a lone warrior for the visitors. He was eventually dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav on a personal score of 68 runs off 39 balls.

The lower batsman had too much to do and India registered a convincing victory at last. Deepak Chahar was the most economical bowler in the innings with two wickets. Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami also picked two wickets each.
