Virat Kohli continued to show his batting prowess as he notched up his 40th ODI ton during the 2nd ODI between India and Australia in Nagpur on Tuesday. The run machine completed his century in style after he hit the ball behind point for four to bring his 40th ODI century.
At a tricky wicket in Vidarbha cricket Association stadium, India lost Rohit Sharma without a single run on the board. Virat Kohli joined Shikhar Dhawan in the center and completed a 38 run stand for the second wicket before piling up another 35-run stand with Ambati Rayudu.
At 75-3, India was in a dire need of a partnership to be on a dominant position in the game. Vijay Shankar and Virat Kohli were the answer to every question as they notched 81 run partnership to give some momentum to the men in blue.
The world ranked 2 team in ICC ranking then kept losing wicket at regular intervals but Virat Kohli was rock solid at the other end. He completed another 50+ run stand with Ravindra Jadeja and in the process completed his 40th ODI ton. Twitter was awestruck with the impressive batting display from Virat “run machine” Kohli; here are some reactions.
Top innings. Another day at work. Century for Virat Kohli. 40 in 224 innings is an unreal stat.

After 224 ODIs –
Sachin Tendulkar – 8350 runs, ave 42.6, SR 86.45, 23 hundreds, 44 fifties
Virat Kohli – 10686* runs, ave 60.03, SR 92.61, 40 hundreds, 49 fifties.
It isn’t even close for the best ODI batsman ever any more. Kohli wins hands down.

Number 40 for the King, what a champion.
A great innings on this surface by Kohli. #IndvAus pic.twitter.com/GPH9o4uuA0— Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) March 5, 2019
I mean, Kohli’s last 10 hundreds came in his last 25 innings. That is just ridiculous. Otherworldly.
