India vs England: Bhuvneshwar Kumar unlikely for the England test series

Team India is currently down and out of the England test series after the host thrashed Virat Kohli and Co. in the first two test to take a dominant 2-0 lead. India will be hopeful to draw first blood in the third test and keep the Pataudi series alive. The squad for the last two test matches will be announced just after the third test match in Trent Bridge and all eyes will be on the selection of Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was ousted from the test squad following a back injury. However, the reports state that he is unlikely to feature in the test series as his recovery process is taking more than expected time.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Bhuvneshwar is undergoing a Rehabilitation programme at National cricket academy in Bengaluru but sources from NCA and Nottingham state that he is not fully fit to be considered for selection. BCCI had announced that he may be available for selection for the last two test matches.

Jasprit Bumrah is expected to return for the third test match after recovering from a thumb injury which he caught up during the Ireland T20 series. However, the batters are the one who have been the disappointment except Virat Kohli, who amassed 200 runs in the first test to bring down the defeat margin to just 31 runs. In the second test, whole of the batting unit failed to impress and could manage to English bowlers took just 83 overs to bowl out India in two innings to register a victory by an innings and 159 runs.

“We’ve agreed that we messed up in Lord’s and got outplayed. But the fact was when we batted the conditions were damp and when we bowled, the weather was sunny. It is not an excuse but the fact was the luck was not on our side,” a source said.
