Pitch report

A total of 49 matches have been played on the venue and the team batting first has won on 21 occasions while the chasing team has won it on 27 occasions. The pitch will get better for batting as the day progresses.

The pitch at Old Trafford does not have a tinker of grass cover on it. The newly prepared pitch is hard and solid but it may contain some moisture as the ground was covered due to rain. The pitch may suit the fast bowlers in start but after that initial phase, it will turn out to be a flattrack. If a batsman stamps his authority in the center then it will be tough job for the bowlers.

Though the venue is favourable for the teams batting second but in the ongoing world cup 95% of the games have been won by the teams that have batted first and there should be no doubt in the mind of the captain who wins the toss.
