India’s track legend Milkha Singh congratulated Neeraj Chopra and other athletes for their stupendous performance in the 18th Asian Games.
“I would like to congratulate Neeraj and all the medal winners in athletics. Their performance has been exceptional in the Asian Games,” Singh told PTI as reported by Times of India.
Neeraj Chopra who won gold at Commonwealth games earlier is now the second Indian athlete after Milkha Singh to be crowned Asian and Commonwealth champion same year. Singh had repeated the heroics way back in 1958.
Other Indian athletes were also on-song as Sudha Singh put up a commendable effort in women’s 300m steeplechase to win silver medal. Neena Varakil in women’s long jump and Dharun Ayyasamy in men’s 400m hurdles were also amongst the silver medal winners.

“The standard of Indian athletes is improving day by day. Now we should target medals in the Olympics.
Milkha who had won two gold in 400m and 4x400m relay races in 1962 Jakarta Asian Games was delighted with the performance of youngsters who brought glory to the nation.
