The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) confirmed that the historic Eden Gardens will host two play-off matches of IPL 2018, that were originally scheduled in Pune. Kolkata will host the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 on May 23 and 25 respectively.
Lucknow’s Ekana International stadium was also the frontrunner but incomplete facilities of the stadium, didn’t let the organizers show the interest in Shaheed Path based stadium.
Pune was scheduled to host the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 but the venue became the adopted home ground of Chennai Super Kings’ for six matches amidst the protest for Cauvery Water Crisis in Chennai.
We are happy to host the play-off matches and are looking forward to it,” Cricket Association of Bengal joint-secretary Avishek Dalmiya said.
Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will host the Qualifier 1 and the Final on May 22 and 27 respectively.
