Virat Kohli suffered a back injury during the second test at Lords which forced him to miss the morning session of fourth days play. He cleared at the post match interview that he will get fit before the Nottingham test but England coach Trevor Bayliss feels a wounded Virat Kohli may prove to be lethal when he steps up to play for his team.
Not worried about Virat’s fitness- Bayliss
“It could mean he’s more of a dangerous player. Through history there are a lot of players who have played with an injury and scored runs and taken wickets,” Bayliss said.
“I don’t know if that focuses the mind more but I have just seen him take some slip catches without any problems, so I’m sure he’ll be playing. That won’t change our approach to the way we play him.”
Bayliss, 55, hopes that the Nottingham conditions will be similar to that of Lord’s. He felt that Nottingham wicket may offer some swing for the fast bowlers.
India takes of England in the third test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham from 18th August.
