Everton's Wayne Rooney agrees to deal in principle to join D.C. United in MLS

Legendary English footballer Wayne Rooney has agreed a deal in principle of £12 million to join D.C. United in Major League Soccer(MLS). Rooney’s representatives have been in the US for discussing the terms for his move away from the Premier League.

The striker has admitted that his time in England is over and he is ready to make the move to America.

Reports states that Rooney has been offered a contract until the end of the 2020 MLS season. The US transfer window does not open until July.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has said that he wants Rooney to stay and dismissed suggestions England’s record goal scorer will leave the club.

Rooney played for Everton in his youth career and was signed by Everton’s senior team in 2002, making his PL debut. He made his move to Manchester United in 2004 and had 13 glorious years at the Theatre of Dreams. He was the record goalscorer and won 5 PL titles and the Champions league with them, before going back to Everton in 2017, where he failed to create the magic, for which he is mostly known for.

MLS have a history of signing some of the most influential EPL products to America like David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane. Earlier, Zlatan Ibrahimovic left Manchester United after agreeing a deal with MLS club Los Angeles Galaxy.
