The build to the upcoming cricket world cup has allready started with all the 10 participating teams making sure that they get the right combination before the start of the marquee event. The world cup will get underway from May 30 and will continue till July 14.

England are the firm favourites to lift the trophy, however some experts claim India to be a force to reckon with alongside Pakistan, who will be high in confidence after triumph in 2017 champions trophy in English conditions.

Englishmen Ian Bell makes a prediction

After a great setback in 2011 and 2015 world cup, England build their team from scratch and results started to follow. In just mere two years, English team got on top of the charts and is allready a contender at its own backyard. Former England batsman Ian Bell also opines that Joe Root and company will be the overwhelming favourites in the world cup.

“I think people are saying they [England] are the favorites and rightly so. The 50-over cricket they have played over the last three years has been outstanding,” Bell told Sky Sports.

Other contenders to lift the trophy

Bell further went onto say that 2011 champions India will also come in the contest as one of the favourites. He also believes that Pakistan will also come with a good chance of winning the world cup after winning the Champions trophy in 2017 in the same country.

“It’s going to be an exciting tournament but, as we saw in the ICC Champions Trophy last year, Pakistan is a very dangerous side with lots and lots of match-winners and exciting players in their team. India, as they always are at World Cups, are going to be very strong,” he added.

Bell assured that India, Pakistan or England will be the winner of the world cup but asserted that he won’t be surprised if Australia reach the final four despite being in poor form from last one year.
